I decided Captain Jack Harkness is my new favorite Jack. In fact, he's my new favorite Captain Jack. Sorry, Sparrow.
If you're not savvy or fannish enough to be downloading Torchwood, be sure to watch it when it hits American TV. If SciFi is smart enough to show it.

My head! I just checked my credit card and Strawberries charged me twice! I only wandered in there to kill time after my haircut. I ran across a deal on CD-R's. With the sale and the rebate, it was 5$ for 50 CDs. Nice colorful ones. Decent deal. It took nearly 15 minutes at checkout to actually acquire the rebate. And now I find out he (or they) spent some of that 15 minutes charging me twice.
I need to stop buying things.

You wouldn't think that Yahoo would deliberately make their TV listings less useful. You might even think it impossible for them to do so. But it is and they have.
I had it set as my homepage. Not because I have a homepage, technically. I open Opera with no tabs, thankyouverymuch. But because I could use ctrl-space and open it quickly.
So about an hour ago, or so, I ctrl-spaced and got a 404. Oh, a dressed up 404 sure, but a 404 nonetheless. Because Yahoo is never content with A) what's working or B) what's already sucking. They need to make it suck MORE.
So I browse around trying to get the TV listings to show up. At least it seems to have kept my channel preferences. At first, I can only see the channels up to about 20-something. But I wait, and wait, and eventually they start showing up at the bottom of the page.
They're annoying, because there's a textbox at the top of the page with the cursor sitting in it, so I can't just page down to see more. And if you click on a listing by accident.. simple to do when you're trying to get the cursor out of the stupid textbox.. then it shifts everything to show you the description. A-nnoying.
At least it shows me 3 hours worth without doing weird wrapping and cutting off, like it was. But it's less easy to scan.
However, the capper is, I reset my homepage to this new URL. And I went back to revisit it. It gave me the schedule for 2 hours ago, when I last loaded it. Lame. So I refreshed. And now I have nothing. Well, I have the days of the week at the top of the page, but no listings. I don't know what it wants from me. Where does it want me to click?
More importantly.. why should I bother?

So the Daily Show did an interview with a SUNY-Binghamton kid. You may remember him as the Jewish kid trying to get out of the meal plan. The meal plan is a ripoff, so I don't blame him.
I didn't recognize any of the buildings they showed, and they showed something like 4 or 5. I thought one could possibly be a dining hall I wasn't familiar with. One was definitely not a Binghamton building, as the style was all wrong. Someone on the CoRE mailing list confirmed that the dining hall shot was the only Binghamton shot. The rest was stock footage, probably from some ivy league school that looks more old and academic.
I've also been provided this link to a youtube video. It's behind the scenes of a Daily Show shoot. It's not terribly interesting except as behind the scenes of a Daily Show shoot.

A couple days after Halloween, I was in the store to buy a card. This store chick who was hanging coupons pointed out that if I used a coupon, I could get three cards for the price of two. So, okay, I do that. Then I go to the self checkout and it doesn't take the coupon. Call for help. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Give up. Go to regular checkout. The chick there scans it. It doesn't scan. She punches the numbers in. Then, all seems fine. I mean, she didn't say anything to me about it or anything. She seemed to be all diligent about it.
But when I get home, the coupon isn't on there. So now I've bought 3 cards and actually paid for them when I'd only wanted 1!
Eventually went back and got my 1.99 back from them.
So then I was at CVS in the mall last week. I was there to buy shampoo, because the grocery store hadn't had the cheap kind I wanted. But I also had Cold-Eeze in mind, because I'd used most of it when I had two colds last month. So, it was on sale. And then I walked by the Necco chocolate mint things. They're usually like 99 cents, but they were on sale for 88 cents. At the checkout, I gave my card, but didn't have to sign a slip because it was under 25$ or whatever. So I never looked at the receipt until later in the food court. Neither sale item was on there at sale price!
I intended to go back and argue, but then didn't go back to the mall immediately. Then when I did, I hadn't thought to bring the receipt. It's probably too late now, as any sale signs that were up are probably no longer. And obviously not worth bus fare to get like 1.11 back from them.
I'll just be annoyed at Shaw's and CVS and tell the world to check your receipts before you leave the store.

So, by my calculations, my three images up at Eefoof have earned me 10 cents. Of course I won't actually see any virtual money for at least two weeks. And unless I have enough to cash out, I won't see any real money for even longer. However, 10 cents for a couple images is a lot better than 5 cents for a review (aka, Epinion).
I don't want to post any personally identifying photos.
If you've got pictures of hot teen chicks (clothed), you can make out quite well. Um, not like that.
So check out my eefoof images. So far they're just animals.
Maybe I'll go for some walks and capture some squirrels.

I was going to link to my previous entry, but I couldn't find it. Probably it was on my earlier blog. So whatever.
Here's some more reasons why the Sci-Fi Channel sucks:
* It didn't start running Doctor Who earlier, so I ended up spoiled when I started watching downloaded Torchwood.
* It's not consistent when it reruns Doctor Who. Sometimes it's at 10, sometimes at midnight, sometimes at 1am.
* It played crap movies all day today instead of Doctor Who.
* The volume on the commercials is always too loud. Seriously. It's been years like this. Hire someone who knows how to balance the audio!! I know it's not the cable inserting commercials that does this, because other channels are fine.
* Hotels don't think you're cool enough to have on their lineup, so I had to attend a sf con with no Doctor Who. (Not really, since I downloaded it. Take that, SciFi.)

I just upgraded Opera. It does some things better than the last version I had, though it permanently screwed up Yahoo TV.
One thing it also did was make WordPress use the visual rich editor. I didn't realize it wasn't before. Well, the visual rich editor is crap. When images are turned off, I can't even see the tags (not that I've used more than the more tag by clicking on it). And it made typing in the little box laggy. Lag bad!
So I went into the WordPress options and turned it off. So now it behaves like it was automatically behaving in my previous Opera.

C-net's put up a list of the Top Ten Girl Geeks. (Turn images on, or the list won't even make sense. ALT tags, people. ALT tags!)
While I'm a fan of Lisa Simpson, it's pretty pathetic they had to go looking at cartoons for inspiration. But Lisa is more credible than some others on the list! Using a PSP does not make you a geek!
Maybe we should make our own list and it can be the first real entry on Fgeeks.
It seems like the winner of the most fiction Hugos ever, Connie Willis, should be on the list. Or LeGuin or Tiptree or someone.
Such a pointless list. Maybe I shouldn't have even linked to the thing.

I renamed my blog. Not the most brilliant title ever, but better than the last one.
Yahoo TV sucks, yet while there are alternatives, I haven't found one I like. Let me know if you know of one. Basically the layout is all messed up. It only shows the first 2 hours instead of all 3 and sometimes doesn't terminate a show, so it only actually shows one hour for that channel.
The new Yahoo maps sucks even more, but Mapquest doesn't have our street. STILL.
I added the blog to Feedburner. See if it makes me more popular.
I've poked around at a few sites that like to pay you for written content. However, I don't like the idea that they buy the rights to your content worldwide, in perpetuity, even if they are paying you 5-30$ for it. I dunno. I'll think about it.
I'm less concerned about sharing blurry pictures of geese and closeups of jellyfish. Who else would pay for them?

My Previous Entries link was broken, and apparently no one ever noticed. It was because my blog address is different from the location of wordpress in my directory, only I hadn't told it that.
If I haven't broken anything else in the process of fixing that... woot.

So I found out about eefoof.com. You can submit images and video and make money. So rather like a blending of epinions and youtube. They're still new, and you can tell. But I thought I'd give it a shot and see how likely it was to earn money from this.
So check out my skills of a photographer and look at my blurry geese. Give me hits, maybe I'll make money. They seem to pay out once a month, so I'll let you know.
What I probably really need is some teens with whipped cream. Or whips.

I have to read 6 more books to beat last year's total. I've slacked off. Mostly the fault of games, I think.
In other news, let me know if you leave a comment and it doesn't show up. You never know what Spam Karma's doing.
