Harry Potter Movie & My Theory Again
I liked movie 5 better than book 5 and I think it’s worth seeing, on the big screen if you can manage it.
Below the cut are spoilers for the movie and a bit more about my theory espoused in the previous entry. So potential spoilers for book 7! Because my theory is sooo right.
Three things bugged me in the movie. I said elsewhere it was 2, but then I remembered the third.
1) Parvati and Padma Patil are still both Gryffindors. A holdover from the previous movie that I wished they’d fixed. It didn’t even seem relevant or convenient that they were both in Gryffindor this time. Just couldn’t be bothered giving one of them a new costume? (They did make Sirius’s floo talking a bit more like the book and visually better, so clearly they weren’t wed to movie 4.)
2) They used Levicorpus a number of times. Which would’ve been fine if it they’d used it in Snape’s memory and only then. I even wouldn’t have minded them floating bodies around without actually saying Levicorpus. Maybe I wouldn’t have minded if the Death Eaters used it, or Snape, or Sirius, or the Aurors… but no, they had the kids using it. Isn’t that going to screw up movie 6? It’s a fairly big deal! (Look at your DVD carefully when it comes out. I wonder if they’ll edit these out. They said it at least 2 times, possibly more. In both the Dumbledore’s Army training sessions and in the final battle.)
3) Padfoot turns into Sirius and we don’t see him for a minute. Then Harry goes into a room with him and Sirius is hanging out in this black shaggy coat thing. Which is cool and all, I guess. But why is he apparently naked under it?! He had clothes on in other scenes! The Animagus transformation doesn’t leave you naked. If not explicitly stated, it’s fairly well implicitly stated! And even if it did, where’d he get the coat from? You almost have to chalk it up to ‘I am Sirius and I am sexy, so I am going to show you my prison tattoos.’
Cool Bits:
1) Luna’s Patronus is a rabbit. I don’t think that was in the books. Excellent choice.
2) The wall of decrees. Excellent use of it and good visuals.
Not-so-cool bits:
1) I’m not so sure on the other Patroni we see. Ron seems to have a dog? Hermione’s is an otter? Is that right? I can’t remember, since book 5 isn’t one I relished rereading and I haven’t reread book 6 yet. I am a slacker. (I think one or both of the twins should be an otter personally.)
2) There’s this weird cut in the Ministry at the end where the audio suddenly stops as we switch scenes. It appears like a scene was edited out and not very well. Was it a scene of them passing the Veil? (Another thing to check on the DVD.)
Finally, as relates to my theory.
* At the end, Luna has this pretty obvious foreshadowing line about things you think are lost turning up again. Though not necessarily in the way you’d expect them to.
That so totally relates to my theory. Sirius comes back, but as Tonks! Remember again that you heard it here first.
Seriously (ha ha), Rowling. If this doesn’t happen, then at the very least, George needs to come out to Harry. Or I will be sad.

Hermione’s otter is in book 5, I believe.
