Keyword Musings

Posted in Geeky Stuff at 11:10 am by Jellyn

I am curious. But I don't know where to look.

Does anyone know a good site or sites to find popular keyword searches? I found one or two, but now I can't remember where they were. They also weren't entirely what I was looking for. So if you know a good site, please leave a comment!

I found some discussion of mesothelioma and lawyers being popular keywords. But it seemed that information was all based on like one blog entry. Everyone just sort of spread it around like an urban legend. Where the popular keywords were mesothelioma, legal services, law stuff, and particularly lawsuits and lawyers about mesothelioma. Which is just really odd, because there's lots of other stuff to be suing about. Even Vioxx is passe' by now, isn't it?

Anyway, let me know if you find some listings of popular keywords. If Obama or Clinton isn't on there, I don't think I'll be believing the list! And if I remember where I found those lists.. was one of them on Yahoo?.. then I'll post it.

Keywords are the pulse of the natio--world, right? I wonder if you could write a science fiction story about the top ten popular keywords in any given week. Hrm... that gives me an idea...

2008 Goals Update

Posted in Goals at 10:06 pm by Jellyn

I totally forgot I was going to post an update around the end/beginning of the month. Now's as good a time as any, right?

This is just the highlights. You can keep track of my progress in more detail if you want.

* Be able to recognize all 1945 Joyo kanji so I can read a manga in Japanese.
I got up to a little over 300 and stalled a bit.

* Read 250 books, at least 10% of which are nonfiction.
I've read 10 nonfiction already, so only 15 more of those to go. I'm falling behind in overall total though. Or rather, I started out behind and I haven't caught up yet!

* Watch 12 movies in French without subtitles.
I've watched 2 so far. It would've been 3, but Triplets of Belleville is mostly lacking in any language at all and was only available in English or Spanish on the DVD I got from the library. Still not sure what's up with that.

Most of the rest of the goals are hit and miss. A little bit done, or nothing at all done.
