04:59 ~ gaze at the moon

Awww.. I stopped getting massive amounts of hits for half-blood prince torrents.

In other news, Yaaaaaay, I finally finished slogging through The Rift by Walter J. Williams. I wrote a review of it on Epinions and gave it 2 stars. So if you're interested in why you shouldn't waste your entire summer reading it, go read my review.

Now I can get started on something more interesting, especially since I'm also done reading Harry Potter. Now the problem is deciding what to start with.

The Many Faults of The Rift
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: Everlasting Showstopper

Epinions has a contest drawing that you can enter by writing the first Very Helpful review of something this month. And it's a good prize this month. 100$ Borders card. Unfortunately, I only have one entry so far and only a couple days left. :(

19:16 ~ gaze at the moon

More on Half-Blood Prince later, but for now I've written only a minor spoilery review on Epinions. And for all of you out there looking for book 6 torrents, stop already, will you? Go to your library or go sit in the bookstore and read it if you feel you can't afford it. I'm not against torrents in general, but Rowling and everyone else who worked on the book deserve to be paid for it.

16:23 ~ gaze at the moon

More Predictions:

See the comment on the earlier entry for more about Dumbledore being Evvvvvvvil. Or something.

* Neville again. Obviously that cactus is doing something. She refers to its Stinksap multiple times later on. And just why would it coincidentally happen to be Gryffindor's password? Who would've known he had that cactus? Hmmm?

* Back to the hand. 'Either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives'. First of all, Harry seems to take this to heart and too literally for my taste. So I think there's something fishy about the hand in there. Remember last time she used a phrase like that, someone did give his right hand to help Voldemort.

* Neville's middle name has an R and a D in it. Thus forming some anagrammatic phrase that discusses Voldemort.

* Harry will continue to be an angry idiot.

* All of the adults around him had better stop being idiots too!

18:09 ~ gaze at the moon

One more for you.

* Harry or Neville is going to lose a hand. Whichever one does, he's the son of Peter Pettigrew.

More out there than my other predictions, but you just wait! :)

05:45 ~ gaze at the moon

Thought I'd throw out some predictions for books 6 and 7 before 6 comes out. I have remained as spoiler-free as I can manage, so if any of these contain spoilers, it's purely by my extraordinary brilliance.

* Fred and George, and also Ron, have more Divination skill than they've let on (and in Ron's case, even know about). I had started a longer post on this subject with detailed evidence, but lost interest. Suffice it to say that Fred and George made that wonderful bet and that Ron says a number of things that have come true later.

* Following with the one above, Ron will be Head Boy and Quidditch Captain. (See Mirror of Erised)

* Something's up with Neville. I haven't reread book 5 yet, where he comes out of his shell and does stuff, so need to refresh my memory on that. But memory is the thing to watch with Neville, oh yes. And possibly tied in to Trevor as well. Those animals are never what they seem.

* Dumbledore is a Death Eater. Well, we all know he's evil and does some really stupid things if he's supposedly helping Harry, right? But there's this line in book 4 that makes me suspicious: "He [Severus] is now no more a Death Eater than I am." You know whenever someone says something that obvious, you have to wonder.

* Harry (possibly with others) will go through the Veil in some manner or other to try to retrieve Sirius. He will see and chat with his parents while there. Whether he succeeds on the Sirius front.. I can only hope. I believe I said this one before in an earlier post, so there ya go.

* Draco may or may not become a ferret Animagus, but he's not done with Buckbeak, I don't think.

* Oh, this one is fairly obvious, but Wormtail will save Harry or do something for him at the last minute that lets him win the day because Harry saved his life that time in book 3 and he's obligated to.

* This isn't a prediction, so much as something suspicious I noticed. In book 4, there's a couple mentions of eagle owls. Harry 'rides with' one in his dream. I think we're meant to think this is an eagle owl from Moody/Crouch to Voldemort, but Draco's been said to have an eagle owl. So. Suspicious there.

More later if I think of them.

16:00 ~ gaze at the moon

Epinions posted income share early! I earned 96 cents this month. That's exactly twice what I made last month. Some of my older reviews earned a bit, but it was mostly all from reviews written this month. My top three reviews, in order, were Capella University (education), Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle (movie), and Chamber of Secrets (book).

I would not expect Howl's to earn me the same amount again, nor Chamber. Capella should be a steady earner though. We shall see.

It's encouraging anyway. It's almost a buck!

Random Food Thoughts

Doritos - 'Nacho Cheesier'. Instead of releasing a new flavor with more.. uh.. nacho cheesyness, instead they appear to have new-and-improved their original flavor. Well, I don't like it. So I'm not buying it again. It's spicier than it was before, and I don't like spicy. I went to their website to complain, but there's no place to complain there. Maybe if I get bored enough, I'll call and complain.

Chex Mix Cocoa - This was pretty good. It was a special 'winter' variety. It was like Chex Mix dusted with cocoa. Well, that's what it is. Plus some mini-dehydrated marshmallows. Not vegetarian, those, but they were good. ;) And the breadsticks were vanilla-flavored and there were mini frosted chex too. I wrote to them about it and received a form letter back. I hope the make it again next winter.

Chex Mix Traditional - Maybe it's just this bag I bought and a fluke, but there is a lot of chex and not many breadsticks. I like the breadsticks.

Special K Red Berries - Firstly.. red berries? If you're going to call it red berries, then have a variety of red berries, dudes. They're just strawberries. The commercial made it seem like this was a very healthy cereal. And hey, it was flakes and fruit. I figured it'd be an interesting change from raisin bran. I didn't read the label until I got home. It has less fiber than Honey Nut Cheerios, which isn't much. It has the same amount of sugar, but more overall carbs. Other minerals are the same, or less, a few more. Sodium was higher, I believe. In short, it was not healthier than freaking Honey Nut Cheerios, let alone raisin bran. And the taste? Well, it was much sweeter than I was expecting, which is okay I guess.. The strawberries were dehydrated, obviously. So they were slimy on the outside, marshmallowy-crunchy on the inside, and incredibly tart. I'll finish the box, but I'm not buying it again.

Crunchwrap - I enthused about this in my Epinions about Taco Bell. It's good. Go get one. With beans, to save the poor little beeflings.

Random Title Generator by Maygra (based on a design by Jellyn)

Here's the original. Or at least, one of the originals.

I wish she'd changed the color scheme and/or layout. And I really wished she'd changed the text without just tacking on a comment in parantheses.

While I'm at it.. I was googling for Jellyn. Lots more of them out there than there used to be. And it seems to be a word in some language. Anyway, just to let you all know that I am nfn04296@naples.net. If that account still exists, I've forgotten the password. So if you're looking for that Jellyn, that's me. You can leave a comment here.
