I just want to know who thought this was a great marketing idea.

13:32 ~ gaze at the moon

Watching The Gadget Show again. Wish I was in the UK so I could win all the cool stuff they give away every week. So amongst the things in this week's ep are these coolnesses.

A device where you set something down on it, like your wedding ring, and it's linked to your computer and it pulls up a wedding photo album. Seemingly pointless, really, until you realize that merchandisers will love it. Get a cute little toy at McDonalds and set it down on this thing and pop over to McDonalds' website or Disney or wherever. Probably it would even have a special access pass, so you could get to parts of the site you couldn't without having purchased the cute little toy. So they no longer have to package CDs or say 'input this code to win', you just pop the object on the scanner thingee.

Then they showed this freaky Harry Potter thing! Only he never mentioned Harry Potter. Silly Brit. There was a moving photograph hanging on the wall, but it only sprang to life when he looked at it. It was a little girl. A freaky little girl.

These two things were developed by BT. We're supposed to know what BT is. I think it's British Telecom. I know it's not Bit Torrent.

What's kind of amusing is they're always saying 'When HD gets here, it'll be really cool!' You'd think with such a small country, they could've had HD a long time ago. There must be thousands of people over there with HD televisions and nothing except pre-recorded stuff to watch. I think they're a little obsessed with HD camcorders and things as a result.

And they looked at metal detectors. Want one.

11:05 ~ gaze at the moon

I think the site feed is working now. I had the path wrong because we'd moved to a new server that wasn't using www/ for some silly reason. See previous post for the url. The xml file is actually there now this time. Whether it's working otherwise, I don't know.

I'm going to recommend two new British science fiction shows. If you know how to get them, do, cuz they're good. I wouldn't be too surprised to see the first one show up on SciFi channel or PBS, but the second one probably never will.

Hyperdrive - The Office meets Red Dwarf. It's gotten better as it's gone along. Either it grew into itself or it grew on me. The really blue and white collar crew of a British space ship spreads British-ness throughout the galaxy, and usually messes it up. (Okay, I couldn't bring myself to type the British phrase there. You can try to guess what it was.) Along with the humor, there's cool sci-fi ideas in there.

Life on Mars - A detective cop from the present is in an accident and goes into a coma. Now he's either gone back in time or it's all a coma dream of his, but he's back in the 70's. He has to cope with the 70's way of fighting crime and being sexist and all sorts of other ists while trying to figure out how to wake up, or go back home, or both. And his name is Sam.

16:42 ~ gaze at the moon

I tried enabling the site feed thingee on Blogger. I think the address you need is http://www.flaminggeeks.com/jellyn/blog/sitefeed.xml ? Let me know if this doesn't work and I might poke at it more and fix it. Or not.

16:30 ~ gaze at the moon

I'm going to try listing a bunch of stuff this weekend, rather the one or two things I've tried so far. I was thinking about doing 20, but I have 10 ready. I'm thinking 5 today and 5 tomorrow. It'll probably cost me about 8-9$ if nothing sells. Stupid Ebay fees. So I hope some sell!

I've listed a piggy mouse, some St. Patrick's pins and things. Tomorrow I'm going to put up some fantasy shirts, dragons and mermaids and things. So go check 'em out.

I also have a bunch of stuff up at Yahoo, though nothing's sold on there yet. I'll generally list things cheaper over there because they don't charge anything. So if you're looking for a bargain, head that-a-way. Yahoo's search has been messed up and not showing everything though. :P Looks like it's working right this second anyway.

09:51 ~ gaze at the moon

After doing most every day in December, I didn't write any reviews for January. Epinions deposited IS today. I got 50 cents for last month for doing nothing. So not bad compared to spending a bunch of time writing stuff and only getting about twice as much.
