Blog still looks all weird since I upgraded Opera, but I am not motivated to try to fix it. Especially as it could just be all Opera’s fault. I need to do a clean install of the newest version. Not motivated to do that either.
92 books so far this year. 2/3rds of the way through. 50 left to beat my record. I have to keep up the pace and read another 4 books besides. As you can guess, that 250 goal was given up on months and months ago.

I just upgraded Opera. It does some things better than the last version I had, though it permanently screwed up Yahoo TV.
One thing it also did was make WordPress use the visual rich editor. I didn’t realize it wasn’t before. Well, the visual rich editor is crap. When images are turned off, I can’t even see the tags (not that I’ve used more than the more tag by clicking on it). And it made typing in the little box laggy. Lag bad!
So I went into the WordPress options and turned it off. So now it behaves like it was automatically behaving in my previous Opera.

I renamed my blog. Not the most brilliant title ever, but better than the last one.
Yahoo TV sucks, yet while there are alternatives, I haven’t found one I like. Let me know if you know of one. Basically the layout is all messed up. It only shows the first 2 hours instead of all 3 and sometimes doesn’t terminate a show, so it only actually shows one hour for that channel.
The new Yahoo maps sucks even more, but Mapquest doesn’t have our street. STILL.
I added the blog to Feedburner. See if it makes me more popular.
I’ve poked around at a few sites that like to pay you for written content. However, I don’t like the idea that they buy the rights to your content worldwide, in perpetuity, even if they are paying you 5-30$ for it. I dunno. I’ll think about it.
I’m less concerned about sharing blurry pictures of geese and closeups of jellyfish. Who else would pay for them?

My Previous Entries link was broken, and apparently no one ever noticed. It was because my blog address is different from the location of wordpress in my directory, only I hadn’t told it that.
If I haven’t broken anything else in the process of fixing that… woot.

I have to read 6 more books to beat last year’s total. I’ve slacked off. Mostly the fault of games, I think.
In other news, let me know if you leave a comment and it doesn’t show up. You never know what Spam Karma’s doing.
Installed Spam Karma 2. Go away spam. We don’t want any. :P

I noticed this first on another wordpress blog I read. I thought the writer was writing in Word and pasting in or something, but, no, it’s WordPress doing it! Smartquotes! Smart-hyphens! Evil!!! And it’s doing it to mine too!!
So, this entry is to test to try it get it to stop doing teh ebil.
“Test”
I was wondering if anyone was reading this blog (anyone as in the general public) and so I was set to nix Google’s Analytics and go back to hitbox. But, I poked in to see if Google was in fact doing anything, and.. it was! Oh, it wasn’t in Opera. :( I tried it in IE, however, and it does show me stuff. Lots of stuff. And graphs and charts.
Mostly I only care about the numbers and what keywords are being used. Since it gives me that, it’s all good. So, yay, no work for me. But boo, not working in Opera.

Adding to my list of lists, I’ve put up a list of Hugo award-winning novels and Nebula award-winning novels. You can get at them over in the sidebar. I’ve only marked as read the ones I know I’ve read. There’s a couple I may have started and not finished, or may have even read, but don’t remember. This is especially true of the older ‘classic’ stuff by ‘masters’.
I hope I have read Man in the High Castle, because I’m not at all inclined to read a Phillip K. Dick novel now. Or ever again.
I’ve appreciated writing on WordPress blogs and also appreciated reading them, especially being able to find posts by topic. So I’ve moved my blog to WordPress. Although ‘moved’ is not exactly accurate. I don’t think I’ll be importing all my old posts. This is going to be a new start.
The old link should work (and hopefully without deleting any of my prior blog… fingers crossed). So presumably you had no trouble finding this new blog.
The old one can now be found here. And hopefully I haven’t broken that.
I will be spiffying this up in the future. More concerned that it works at the moment.
I have decided I hate pages that pull information from external sites. It slows down the page loading and ticks me off, especially as they’re most likely ads doing it. So, no more stupid non-paying Google ads for me. If I can figure out how to track web traffic without the hitbox tracker, I will be doing that too.
Still need to hit on a theme.
I have to say I also like the new features in the upgraded version. Even if the only one I’ve used so far is adding new categories right from the post writing window. Might have to upgrade my other WordPress blog too.
