First, let me register my shock that you’ve never heard of Beecher. Though I probably couldn’t have pointed out what she was famous for, exactly, I at least had heard of her and knew who her relatives were. So point me.

And it seems to me far more likely that Genesis was written that was /because/ of the patriarchy, not to create it. I mean, it was, like quite a lot of mythology, thought up by a bunch of dudes in the middle east/mediterranean area.

imdb credits four people for writing on that ep, two of them chicks.

Which probably explains why it’s actually good.

Adam Nimoy (yes that Nimoy) directed it.

It was a very character driven episode which were generally the best ones. Alien of the week or Time Distortion of the week were not.

I love seeing Trek chars as kids. One of the best eps of TNG was, drat, the title escapes me. I think it's called "Rascals." The one with Guinan and Ro and.. somebody else as kids. Picard and Keiko.

They were very careful about not mentioning the name of their race in this ep. (Although the Ferengi are mentioned in another ep and T’Pol is like ‘never heard of them’.)

But yea, they were treading a very thin line here. Their ships would’ve had to change a lot to be unrecognizable by TNG. Though the Ferengi were using their own UT to talk to people… the ship still would’ve had recordings of them crawling all over the ship and talking to each other.

Archer didn’t even particularly scare them off of humans or anything, so you’d think if they were so close to Earth, they would’ve been back sometime in the intervening hundreds of years.
