Her other school shoujo stories most often have clutzy but loveable heroines, but her adventure stories (Miriam – set in the Old West, and her current
only in scanlation and based in old Japan Otogimoyou Ayanishiki http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=4872 – with yokai and such) have the loveable with the competent ^^.

I think “solid” is the perfect way to describe it. It’s got fantasy and romance and all those things, but it also seems that there’s a carefully-planned story unrolling under the mangaka’s sure hand.

Ah, you did go ahead and start FFA. Huzzah! (Or should that be “shazam”? ;-) It’s such a sweet, solid and satisfying story, and it holds up very well after several re-reads (always the sign of a keeper). Glad you’re enjoying it!

This sounds really charming. Have you read any of Genbu Kaiden yet? If not, I think you’ll enjoy the lack of whininess from the heroine.
